Reds Get Pitching help from New York

Cincinnati, Ohio- The Reds and Yankees have come to terms on a deal that would send Starting Pitcher Justin Masterson to the Reds for a group of three prospects. Masterson 32, is making 8.0 Million Dollars until 2020 and has been a force to be wrecking with since signing that contract in the off-season of 2014-2015.

Masterson has done a good job as a Yankee over the past year and a half and some fans are sad to see him go via that, while others are glad that the farm is getting maintained better. The Yankees GM DonnieB was apparently upset over having to let go Masterson as he stated "Sad to see Justin go after 3 dominant seasons in the Bronx". Over the year and a half as a Yankee Masterson went 28 and 9 with a 2.96 ERA and 260 Strikeouts.

The three prospects the Yankees got are Center Fielder Tom Biggs (65/81) in Double A, Shortstop Jay Lawler (71/81) in Double A as well, and the best pick-up in this one by the Yankees was one of the Reds' top prospects 20 year-old Ajay Revitz (75/87) who was a first round draft pick in 2014.

All in All this was a pretty solid trade on the Reds part as they got some needed Rotation help to get them back in the competition for the NL Central. The Yankees I think might have been able to get a little more for Masterson if they possibly offered him to more teams that may have needed Rotation help. So the winner of this trade I think are the Reds, as they got a nice Starter pickup and traded some decent prospects who can be replaced by whoever they sign as the First Overall this year.
